Packing The Shed Or Garage Can Be A Challenge
Nobody likes dealing with the mess that can build up in a shed or garage, but when someone is packing for a move, it cannot be avoided. The items that are stored in these places are usually bulky and oddly shaped, so moving them can be a challenge. When packing the shed or garage, just keep a few simple things in mind and the whole process will be much smoother.
Over time, most sheds and garages get cluttered with tools, toys and miscellaneous things that have nowhere else in the house to go. Packing the shed or garage is a great opportunity to get rid of some of the extra baggage. If something was not being used in one home, there is no reason to think it will be used in a new one. Before packing, go through everything and separate things that will come on the move from things that will be sold or thrown away.
Packing the shed or garage is a challenge because so many of the items inside have the potential to be dangerous. This is particularly true of gas-powered tools, so they require some extra care. Before packing anything like a lawn mower, be sure to drain all potentially hazardous liquids from inside. Remove all attachments and pack them in a separate box so that they do not get broken or lost during the move.
Some things that will get handled when packing the shed or garage are dangerous simply because they have sharp edges. Pack each of these items wrapped in either bubble wrap or towels so that the sharp edges are not exposed. Also, be sure to label these boxes specifically and accurately so that whoever opens it does not reach in carelessly and injure themselves.
When someone is packing the shed or garage, they need to be very careful because so many of the items inside have the potential to cause a safety hazard. Make sure that everything sharp is wrapped safely and those items requiring hazardous liquids are completely drained. This is also a great opportunity to throw away things that were taking up space to get a fresh, organized start in the new home.
