Keep Your Treasures Safe By Packing Knickknacks The Right Way

Over years of collecting vacation souvenirs, party favors and happy meal toys, everyone seems to have a lot of knickknacks to pack when they move. Packing knickknacks can take time because they are small and there are so many of them. However, if done properly, it can be quite simple to keep all of these little gems safe while moving.

When it comes to packing knickknacks that are particularly delicate, it is best to wrap them each individually. For most items, packing paper or even newsprint will do the job. If something is in real danger of breaking, it is a good idea to wrap it in bubble wrap for extra protection.

Delicate items should be wrapped individually, but it is possible to save paper by packing knickknacks that are more durable together. This can be done easily for small plastic toys or costume jewelry. Simply start by placing an item in the top corner of the paper and wrapping it. Tuck the paper around the item and then do the same with the next item until there is not enough paper left to continue tucking it in.

Once all of the items are wrapped, it is time to start packing knickknacks in boxes. Even though they are wrapped safely, it is a good idea to use some extra padding inside of the box or carton as well. Start by placing newspaper or packing paper on the bottom of the box to create a cushion. Then continue by putting padding in between each layer of items and on top for a little extra protection.

It is always the little things that create a challenge when moving and packing knickknacks is not an exception. It takes time to handle each small item carefully, but getting them to the new home safely is well worth the effort. Just be sure to pack each item carefully with sufficient padding and every little knickknack is sure to arrive safely.
