Choosing Your Temporary Housing For Your Next Move
Timing is everything when it comes to moving. In a perfect world, no one would move out of their current home until their next destination was ready and waiting for them to move in, but not every move can go as smoothly as desired. For those experiencing a time gap between moving out of one place and into another, temporary housing is an option that needs to be explored.
For those who only need temporary housing for a few days, hotels can be a great option. When looking for a place for a week or longer, extended stay hotels can offer better rates and amenities for a temporary living situation. Most extended stay hotels act more like an apartment, with full kitchens and laundry options. Many allow pets for those traveling with furry friends.
If your temporary housing needs go beyond a few weeks, an apartment search may be in order. For those looking for a place to stay for a year or longer, most apartments offer yearlong leases. However, it is quite possible to find apartments with short-term leases and some even come fully furnished.
When searching for temporary housing during a move, college towns may be a good place to start. Though some can get noisy and hectic, if you feel the scene is tolerable for a temporary situation, it can be one of the easiest places to find a short-term lease. Because most college students only need housing for about nine months out of the year, college towns tend to have rental properties that are much more lenient about the length of a lease.
Though dealing with a time gap can be a pain, it certainly is manageable. Knowing what options are out there when it comes to temporary housing will help keep your moving budget in check. It may not always be convenient, but there are several choices out there when it comes to temporary living.
